PCD and PCBN Insert Grades for Finishing and Super-Finishing
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) has extremely high hardness, excellent wear resistance, low frication coefficient and outstanding thermal conductivity. PCD brazed tips on standard inserts are ideal for high-speed machining aluminum alloys and other nonferrous and nonmetal materials such as fiberglass, ceramics and reinforced composites with excellent surface finish.
PCBN (Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride) also has high hardness and thermal and chemical stability. PCBN brazed tips on standard inserts are mainly used for machining hard-to-cut materials, high-temperature alloys, hardened steels, and cast irons. Using PCBN inserts for high-speed machining on heat-treated and hardened steels (with hardness higher than HRC45) often generates high surface quality to replace costly grinding process.
YCD011 (ISO Class: N05-N25): PCD For Finishing of Non-Ferrous Metals
This grade has medium diamond grain size that provides high hardness (HV7000). It is suitable for general-purpose high-speed machining of non-ferrous metals and alloys (aluminum and copper), and nonmetallic materials such as ceramics, woods, and composites.
YCB011 (ISO Class: K01-K15): PCBN for Finishing of Cast Irons
This PCBN grade has high hardness (HV3400-3800). It is suitable for high-speed finishing of cast irons, steels, stainless steels, and a wide variety of high-temperature alloys.
YCB012 (ISO Class: H05-H15): PCBN for Finishing of Hardened Steels
This PCBN grade has high hardness (HV3200-3500). It is suitable for high-speed continuous and light interrupted finishing of hardened steels (with hardness of HRc45-65) without coolant.
